Certified Public Accountant

What inspired you to join/start your business?

I started working for my father in 2003 and became a Shareholder in 2013. I grew up watching him love what he does every day and wanted to have that same kind of passion for my career.

What challenges have you faced as a woman entrepreneur and how did you overcome them?

As a younger woman in the accounting field, I struggled to network. As the boss' daughter, it was even harder. So many times I felt people viewed me as "just the owner's kid" and not who I was and what I brought to the firm. I overcame this by becoming more confident in myself as I got older and finding organizations to participate in where this wasn't the culture.

What was your most satisfying moment in your career?

In many ways, I don't think I have had my most satisfying moment quite yet. If I had to chose one moment, it would be helping my clients through the last year of the covid pandemic. For business owners, the first person they reached out to was me, their CPA. I was able to guide them, help them grow or overcome obstacles, and be there to support them.

How do you define success?

Success is tough to define because it is different for everyone and every situation. If I can end my day feeling as though I did everything possible to help my clients succeed, I feel as though that day was successful.

What women inspire you and why?

My 14 year old niece inspires me. She is the only female of our family in the next generation amidst my two sons and her brother. She inspires me to make a difference in the world today so the next generation of women can be as successful as they can be. I want Ava and every other young woman to have a voice and know their voice is heard.

What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?

Find your people. Build your network. Surround yourself with other women who support, empower, and encourage you.

Describe yourself in three words.

Passionate, motivated, and kind

Fill in the Blank:

  • When I face a challenge, I... try and evaluate it from all sides, determine the best course of action, and go after it.

  • If I could go back in time, I would tell myself… To believe in myself and be confident in what I know and what I do.

  • The one thing I couldn’t live without is… Coffee and exercise. Coffee is a food group for me and moving my body is just as much for my mind and soul.

  • By this time next year, I will be… Helping business owners crush their goals while I crush my own.

  • The best thing that happened to me last week was… my support system of amazing women showed up for me when I needed it most.
