Cindy Bornfreund

Majority Owner, MFC Authentics & Framing

What inspired you to join/start your business?

I have always had a passion for current designs and trends and enjoy creating unique, one-of-a-kind framed artwork and keepsakes. I enjoy the one-on-one interaction working with customers to help them with their projects.

In addition to MFC Authentics & Framing, we also have a sister company, Memorabilia for Charities, which helps non-profit organizations raise additional funds by providing them with sports & entertainment memorabilia, enabling me to give back every day.

What challenges have you faced as a woman entrepreneur and how did you overcome them?

Another aspect of our business specializes in custom framing and selling sports memorabilia. As a woman, it is often assumed that we have a lack of knowledge of sports and we have to prove ourselves to be taken as knowledgeable with the sports world. I keep current with what happens in the sports world and gain credibility by knowing what is happening in sports.

What was your most satisfying moment in your career?

Creating a business that allows me to work with my husband and adult children.

How do you define success?

Setting your goals, defining what you want to achieve and reaching the goals you set.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

Keep your sense of humor!

What women inspire you and why?

My daughter and granddaughter as they encourage me and respect me. I want to be the best I can be to set an example for them.

What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?

I would encourage them to never give up and never be afraid to fail. Learn by your mistakes and continue to strive for success.

Describe yourself in three words.

Honest, compassionate, creative

Fill in the Blank:

  • When I face a challenge, I... find a way to succeed.

  • If I could go back in time, I would tell myself… you can succeed even with road blocks along the way.

  • The one thing I couldn’t live without is… my family.

  • By this time next year, I will be… continuing to grow our business.

  • To get my creative juices flowing, I… try to continually think outside the box.
