What inspired you to join/start your business?
For me, developing my business is the natural response to my passion for life and helping people and pets.
The first business I started as a dog groomer began in 1974 because of my passion and love for dogs. Health issues related to chemical exposure paved the path for me to look for safe and healthy alternatives.
Since then, I have always been deeply concerned with health issues related to chemical exposure. I have an overwhelming desire to help people who have the same concerns. In 1998, I created the Environmental Purification Co., helping to lessen the toxic load on our planet, and at the same time, assisting others in achieving a happy, healthier lifestyle. Mother Nature is the best boss you can have!
What challenges have you faced as a woman entrepreneur and how did you overcome them?
My challenges through the years have been securing financial backing, competition, and working through my health issues. Also, my second business went through a difficult loss due to fire.
My greatest assets are perseverance and genuinely believing in the value of my work and service. This is how I overcame and how I continue to overcome challenging circumstances.
What was your most satisfying moment in your career?
I do not have one defining moment. Satisfaction comes from the knowledge that I am doing my very best for my customers.
How do you define success?
Honesty and integrity are the characteristics needed for success in any business venture.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
“You are stronger than you think.”
What women inspire you and why?
Every woman has a story. I am fascinated and draw strength from everyone I talk to.
What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?
Life is full of obstacles; no one is perfect. Forgive. Do the best you can. Have faith in yourself and trust in God, who will give you the strength you need to overcome and to succeed.
Describe yourself in three words.
Happy, Confident, Feisty
