What lessons can we learn from women?

Throughout the course of history, women have challenged traditional norms and confronted limiting stereotypes. By observing women overcome systemic biases and structural barriers, lessons in resilience, empathy, and courage naturally emerge.

Who is the most influential woman you know? How does she inspire you?

Influence is a factor of credibility, expertise, and relatability. I am fortunate to have many women in my circle who exemplify these qualities, and they inspire me by navigating environments they operate in with grace and purpose.

If you could meet any successful woman, who would you choose?

In 1960, at the age of just six years old, Ruby Bridges was the first Black child to racially integrate an all-white elementary school in the South. Today, she is 68 years old. I am familiar with her story and have heard her adult-age reflections portrayed in the media, but I would love to speak with her face-to-face about the source of her resolve and the impact of her bravery.

What is the best part about being a woman in business?

Women in business inspire all,

Breaking through ceilings, standing tall.

Leading with heart and skillful mind,

Our successes leave a blazed trail behind.

With hard work and dedication at our core,

We spark others’ desire to strive for more.

Our tales of triumph, despite what we face,

Show and prove what will weather the race.

What barriers have you faced and how did you overcome them?

Barriers are like walls that stand between you and your desired destination, and leaders routinely confront them. The key is to recognize that there are many routes to surpass a metaphorical wall – you might proceed by going over, under, around, or even through it. Identify your best option and take action, remembering to seek support, marshal resources, and leverage relationships as needed.

What advice do you have for young women who want to be in a leadership position?

Leadership is about mobilizing others towards a shared vision, and the greatest accelerant in that process is authenticity. Always be yourself, and the trust you build will be the kindling that ignites a flame in others.
