What lessons can we learn from women?

Women carry a huge mental load but we are amazing at multitasking and prioritizing. We have a unique way of approaching tough business situations with compassion.

Who is the most influential woman you know? How does she inspire you?

I do not have any one person in particular that inspires me, but rather, women business owners in general. I enjoy listening to women who have been leaders in their industry for many years, and hear about the hurdles that they had to overcome. I find it encouraging that the problems I face as a woman are not only shared by a community of others, but these issues have a collective voice advocating and lobbying for rights. I am inspired by women who choose to be brave over being liked.

What is the best part about being a women in business?

When women band together, glass ceilings shatter and we need to continue to encourage and support one another.

What barriers have you faced and how did you overcome them?

Being a woman business owner during a global recession while family planning in my personal life was not easy. I had to lean on my support network and not be afraid to ask for help, say "I don't know", and allow myself to be vulnerable so that way I could be a listener and a learner. By understanding my limitations, I allowed myself to become creative and foster growth when I did not know it was possible.

What advice do you have for young women who want to be in a leadership position?

Women in business are a supportive community. Find your group; meet with them and learn from them.
