What inspired you to join/start your business?
Speaking with our CEO, Oyauma Garrison at my initial interview, I just knew in my heart and soul that I was meant to be the Executive Director of the newly-formed Greater Philadelphia chapter of A Kid Again. Fostering hope, happiness and healing for kids with life-threatening conditions and their families is truly my calling. I love what I do.
A Kid Again Greater Philadelphia exists to foster hope, happiness, and healing for families raising children with life-threatening illnesses. We bring smiles to the faces of those who need it most through our year-round, cost-free Adventures. Any family with a child age 0-20 with any life-threatening condition can enroll with A Kid Again at www.akidagain.org/enrollnow, or contact Rachel Lippoff at rlippoff@akidagain.org for more information about supporting these amazing families.
How do you define success?
At A Kid Again, success is a smile. A hug. Every single time I see a smile on the faces of our kids and their families my heart just pounds with happiness. And I can't wait until we can give and receive hugs again!
What women inspire you and why?
My mother, my sister, and my daughter are the women who inspire me the most. My mom has always given of herself without reservation - whether to our family and friends, to her job, or to the nonprofits for which she volunteers her time, talent and treasure. My sister is incredibly strong of mind, body, and spirit. She continues to amaze me as she climbs to new heights in her chosen profession, always working hard, taking on extra work where she can, and always keeping others' needs above her own. And my 10-year old daughter Avery is pure joy, happiness, and optimism all the time. She has a very special ability to brighten up even my darkest days. She reminds me every single day to look on the bright side.
What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?
Be a light for others. No matter where you are in your business journey, you can help another woman on hers.
Describe yourself in three words.
Energetic. Optimistic. Kind.
Fill in the Blank:
- When I face a challenge, I... make a pro and con list!
- If I could go back in time, I would tell myself… not to sweat so many of the small things.
- The one thing I couldn’t live without is… my daughter.
- By this time next year, I will be… celebrating all that we've accomplished since the beginning of the pandemic.
- To get my creative juices flowing, I… make lists...believe it or not, it helps me brainstorm!
