Eileen Kevany

Founder, The First 7

What inspired you to join/start your business?

While I had been in Direct Sales with a major skin care and cosmetic company, the real push to become an Image Consultant came from my daughter, Laura.

She was aiming for a specific college internship, but struggled with what to wear and how to act at her first true interview. After helping her (and it working out for her), I realized that there were many that struggled with this topic--how do I best show up to represent myself, my brand, my employer.

I consider the work I do with my clients to be the finishing touch to their resume.

What challenges have you faced as a woman entrepreneur and how did you overcome them?

My biggest challenge has been to be taken seriously.

I had to find my voice to share the difference and value that I bring to the table.

What was your most satisfying moment in your career?

My first client as a Personal Men's Stylist for JHilburn was a true great moment for me.

I helped a Financial Advisor that was challenged with clothing fit, but had never considered custom clothing until meeting me. Our work together on his wardrobe now gives him a great fit, no alterations, and the knowledge that he has a stylist to help him navigate always show up looking the part.

How do you define success?

Meeting the growth goals and aspirations I have set for myself as well as helping my client be able to make a great first impression.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

Be curious and continue to ask questions.

What women inspire you and why?

My mom is #1--She has been a great role model for being a mom, entrepreneur and a good member of society.

Oprah Winfrey would be another--she continues to be curious and learn.

Audrey Hepburn--she gave back to the works and always did it with style and class

What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?

Keep connecting with others. Helping others is sure to bring us what we want.

Describe yourself in three words.

Persistent, approachable, and helpful

Fill in the Blank:

  • When I face a challenge, I... take a deep breathe and wait to respond. I make a pro and con list and take some time to assess the best course of action

  • If I could go back in time, I would tell myself… don't be so serious all the time!

  • The one thing I couldn’t live without is… my family.

  • By this time next year, I will be… growing my ream and doubling my business in sales revenue

  • The best thing that happened to me last week was… clarified my year goals even more specifically with my coach. It's a great feeling to be intentional and mindful

  • To get my creative juices flowing, I… get on IG for about 15 minutes max, and look at the accounts of those I admire and see what they are up to.
