Pinnacle Awards Demonstrate the Importance of Dedication & Community
Thursday, June 05, 2008
Three hundred Chamber members attended the 14th Annual Pinnacle Awards Dinner on May 28 at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill. Former Eagles player and team captain, Vince Papale, received the Chairman’s Award and delivered a keynote address that was humorous, heartfelt and inspiring.
Papale shared with Chamber members his experiences surrounding the Disney movie Invincible, while relating his outlook on life. He asked the audience to take from him an understanding of the impact that they can have on others. He stated that in life and in business, success is not based on a moment of greatness but rather, continuous achievement. Papale encouraged members to maintain a positive attitude and to keep sight of their dreams, even when faced with opposition. Papale conclude with a quote from Langston Hughes’ stating, “Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
Consistent with Papale's message, Pinnacle Awards were presented to members in recognition of each recipient’s commitment to and support of the Chamber and their communities. South Jersey Industries, Inc. was presented the Large Business Award; Joseph F. McKernan Jr. Architects was presented with the Small Business Award; Robert Purdy, president, Automated Sales, Inc. received the Volunteer of the Year Award; and Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. was honored with the Public Service Award.
The Chamber would like to thank our sponsors AmeriHealth New Jersey, Atlantic City Electric, Commerce Bank, Flaster/Greenberg, P.C., and Virtua Health, and our cocktail reception sponsor New Jersey American Water. Special thanks to the volunteers that assisted staff during the evening: John Atkinson, Simonik Transportation & Warehouse Group; Shelley Dobkins, Snelling Staffing Services; and Gene Principato, The Marketing Difference, LLC.
