Health Issues Committee
Health Issues Committee meets to develop positions on issues regarding health care, including cost and availability, and communicates those positions to government officials.
2007 Meetings
On March 7, Senator Joseph Vitale (D-19) addressed the Chamber’s Health Issues Committee. Senator Vitale is the Chairman of the Senate Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee and briefed Chamber members on provisions of his proposal to insure the uninsured in New Jersey. Senator Vitale noted that his proposal, which has not been formally released will not include an employer mandate, as such an initiative would be burdensome to businesses. The Senator continued by saying that state government needs to assist small employers by making health insurance more affordable which will result in more New Jersey residents obtaining health insurance.
The Health Issues Committee is sponsored by AmeriHealth New Jersey and Lourdes Health System.
