State Affairs Committee State Affairs Committee meets with members of the State Legislature or the Governor's Cabinet. Members are updated at each meeting on current legislative issues.
Chairman: Brian J. Litten, Esq, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey
On February 21, Senator John H. Adler (D-6) briefed members of the Chamber at the first State Affairs Meeting of 2007. Senator Adler candidly spoke about the Legislature’s recent property tax efforts and stated that true property tax reform is greatly needed in New Jersey as residents and businesses are locating elsewhere. The Senator continued by saying that our state can no longer allow job growth in the private sector to remain stagnant while employment in the public sector grows at a rapid rate. On Wednesday, March 21, the Chamber hosted Richard L. Cañas Director, New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness. At the meeting, Mr. Cañas discussed how the business community can better protect itself given current homeland security issues in our state and nationally. The Chamber’s State Affairs committee is sponsored by South Jersey Industries and Sun National Bank as part of the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Government Action Series.
