Workshop Series: The Employee Free Choice Act

Location:

The Employee Free Choice Act:
The Facts, the Fiction and the Future of Labor Relations

The most significant change to federal labor laws in more than 70 years is currently pending in Congress. If passed, the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) will revolutionize federal labor laws by allowing unions to bypass the secret ballot election process and instantly become the bargaining representative for employees. EFCA gives an arbitrator the authority to decide the terms of the first contract and significantly increases penalties for employer labor law violations.

Our expert panel will provide you with what you must know about the EFCA, including: an overview of the bill; new union organizing tactics under the EFCA; what makes a workforce vulnerable to union organizing; and what employers can do NOW to prepare for the likely increase in union organizing activities.

Panelists:
-Geoffrey O'Hara
, Executive Director, Eastern Region
 U.S. Chamber of Commerce

-Kenneth R. Gilberg, Esq., Labor & Employment Shareholder
