CCSNJ Hires Hilary Beckett, Former Cabinet Liaison to Governor Murphy

The Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey (CCSNJ) announces the addition of Hilary Beckett as the organization’s manager of government affairs, effective immediately. Ms. Beckett will serve as CCSNJ’s primary lobbyist in Trenton and is responsible for the planning and execution of CCSNJ’s policy committee meetings.

Most recently, Ms. Beckett served as cabinet liaison in the Office of Governor Phil Murphy. In this role, Ms. Beckett was the principal point of contact between the front office and various cabinet departments including the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Board of Public Utilities, Department of Environmental Protection, Office of the Secretary of Higher Education and several others. She was also responsible for ensuring each department properly executed the administration’s policy initiatives and assisted in the execution of the department’s long and short-term objectives.

Prior to her role in the Murphy Administration, Ms. Beckett served as chief of staff to Senator Troy Singleton of the Seventh Legislative District. Ms. Beckett will replace Christina M. Renna, who recently became CCSNJ’s President & CEO, and will report to Ms. Renna in her new capacity.

“Hilary’s familiarity with the critical issues facing the South Jersey region, experience with Senator Singleton, and recent tenure in the Governor’s front office makes her the perfect new addition to the CCSNJ team. We look forward to continuing CCSNJ’s strong advocacy on behalf of the South Jersey business community with Hilary’s expertise and leadership,” stated Ms. Renna.

Created in 1873 as the Camden Board of Trade, CCSNJ has grown to represent the seven counties of Southern New Jersey, Greater Philadelphia and Northern Delaware and is the largest, most active, and influential business organization in the region. A member-driven organization, CCSNJ is proud to be the South Jersey business community’s voice in Trenton, and to advocate for initiatives that will improve the state's business climate and stop legislation that increases the cost of doing business.

Ms. Beckett holds a Bachelor of Science in political science, with a concentration in international studies, from Rowan University. She currently resides in Bordentown, NJ.
